How does Traction Complete’s AI integration ensure data security and privacy?
Traction Complete is a 100% native Salesforce AppExchange solution. All operations take place within the customer’s Salesforce environment. No data is transmitted outside the customer’s Salesforce org unless explicitly configured to do so by the customer.
Key security and privacy measures include:
Customer-Owned LLM Credentials. Traction Complete requires customers to supply their own API key and secret from the LLM provider of their choice. These credentials are masked after entry and stored securely within the customer’s Salesforce org. Traction Complete does not transmit, access, or store these credentials at any time.
Direct API Communication. All communication with the LLM provider occurs directly from within the customer’s Salesforce environment using the customer’s credentials.
Traction Complete does not proxy, relay, or access any request or response data.
User-Defined Prompts and Fields. The customer maintains complete control over which Salesforce fields are included in prompts sent to the LLM. Most use cases involve non-personally identifiable information (non-PII), such as company names or domains, to support contextual enrichment.
Controlled Response Storage. Responses generated by the LLM are written only to Salesforce fields designated by the customer. This ensures full transparency and governance over all AI-generated outputs.
Salesforce Security. All processing occurs entirely within Salesforce and is subject to the platform’s native security controls, including permission sets, field-level security, IP restrictions, audit trails, and role hierarchies.
No Data Retention or Processing by Traction Complete. Traction Complete does not access, retain, or process any prompt or response data. The solution functions solely as a secure in-org automation step, operating under the customer’s configuration and data governance framework.
Where does customer data reside when using Traction Complete’s AI integration, and who controls it?
Traction Complete is a 100% native Salesforce AppExchange solution. Therefore, all data processed through the Traction Complete AI integration remains within the customer’s Salesforce environment unless the customer explicitly configures specific data to be sent to an external LLM provider.
Any prompts or responses are stored on Salesforce records chosen and controlled by the customer. Data residency and handling policies remain fully under the customer’s jurisdiction.
How are API credentials handled and secured? Who owns them?
The customer provides API credentials for their chosen LLM provider. These credentials are:
- Masked after input
- Stored securely within the customer’s Salesforce org
- Never accessible to Traction Complete after entry
- Never transmitted to Traction Complete systems
The customer retains full ownership and control of these credentials at all times.
Does Traction Complete process or retain any AI prompt or response data?
No. Traction Complete does not process, access, or store any data exchanged with an LLM provider. All API requests and responses occur directly between the customer’s Salesforce org and the LLM provider, using customer-managed credentials.
Is prompt data used to train LLM models?
Whether prompt data is used for model training depends entirely on the customer’s agreement with their LLM provider. Most enterprise-grade LLM providers offer configuration options or contractual guarantees regarding training data usage.
Customers are encouraged to review the data handling and retention policies of their chosen LLM provider to ensure compliance with internal policies and applicable regulations.
What are the respective security responsibilities of Traction Complete, Salesforce, and the LLM provider in this integration?
Traction Complete: Acts solely as a secure conduit within Salesforce. Traction Complete never stores or accesses customer data or LLM credentials. The solution respects all native Salesforce security and access controls.
Salesforce: Hosts the customer’s CRM environment and governs access through Salesforce’s security model and native security features such as permission sets, IP allowlists, and audit logging.
LLM Provider: Processes the prompt and returns a response. The customer manages the relationship, account configuration, and API keys for their chosen LLM provider, and is responsible for reviewing any data usage or training policies applicable to that provider.
What type of data is typically sent to an LLM provider for processing?
The customer defines which Salesforce fields are included in each LLM prompt. Data is packaged into a plain-text prompt that is sent directly to the LLM provider via API. Prompts are constructed dynamically using only the fields explicitly selected by the customer in the Traction Complete flow setup.
In most use cases, the prompt includes non-PII business context such as:
- Account or company name (e.g., “Acme Inc.”)
- Website domain (e.g., “acme.com”)
- Billing country, state, or city
- Industry labels or NAICS/SIC codes
- Shorthand job titles (e.g., “VP Sales”)
- Internal CRM fields used for classification or scoring
No data is sent to the LLM unless explicitly included in the prompt configuration. Personally identifiable information (PII) is not required for these use cases and should be excluded unless the customer has reviewed relevant compliance implications.
Does the integration support data residency requirements?
Yes. All processing is performed within Salesforce unless configured otherwise. When external processing is enabled, data is sent only to the endpoint defined by the customer.
Can access to the AI configuration be restricted?
Yes. Customers can use Salesforce permission sets, profiles, and role hierarchies to limit access to API key configuration, prompt creation, and flow editing.
Does the integration maintain an audit trail?
Yes. Customers can use Salesforce’s Setup Audit Trail and field history tracking to log changes to prompts, field mappings, and automation flows for compliance reporting.

What specific business problems does Traction Complete’s AI integration help solve for RevOps teams?
The AI integration leverages Large Language Models (LLMs) to enrich, standardize, and validate data. It automates manual research and enhances data quality at scale by generating contextually relevant outputs based on structured CRM input.
Key use cases include:
Firmographic Enrichment: Automatically generates firmographic insights, including estimated annual revenue, employee count, standardized industry classifications, billing addresses, and identification of competitors or partners.
Standardization & Normalization: Cleans and reformats data fields, such as:
- Removing legal suffixes from company names (e.g., “Inc.,” “LLC”)
- Ensuring country and state fields follow ISO conventions
- Converting shorthand job titles into standardized formats (e.g., “CEO” to “Chief Executive Officer”)
Validation & Accuracy: Detects anomalies such as invalid or fake email formats and converts inconsistent phone numbers into standardized international formats (e.g., ITU-T E.164).
Hierarchy Relationship Mapping: Identifies and returns ultimate parent company details (global or domestic), flags subsidiaries, and determines whether an account operates independently.
How is the AI integration configured, and what level of control does the customer have over its operation?
The integration setup is designed to give customers full control over how prompts are structured, which models are used, and where responses are stored.
Configuration includes the following steps:
(1) The customer obtains an API key from their selected LLM provider.
(2) This API key is entered into the Traction Complete Setup page inside Salesforce. Once entered, the key is masked and stored securely within the customer’s Salesforce org.
(3) A Remote Site Setting must be configured in Salesforce to enable communication with the LLM provider’s API endpoint.
(4) Once configured, the AI step becomes available as part of Traction Complete’s visual automation flow builder.
(5) Within the flow step, the customer selects a destination field on the Salesforce record where the LLM response will be stored.
(6) The customer then defines:
- The LLM model to use (e.g., GPT-4, Claude, Gemini)
- The temperature setting (which affects randomness of output — lower values are recommended for consistency)
- The prompt structure, which may include dynamic field tokens from the processed Salesforce record
Customers retain complete control over which fields are included in the prompt, how the prompt is formatted, and where the response is stored. No fields are sent to the LLM provider unless explicitly configured by the customer.
For quality assurance, we recommend that customers test their prompts using the LLM provider’s native interface before deploying them within the automation flow. This helps ensure that the output is accurate and meets internal data governance standards.
